How does feeding macaques monkeys affect the ecosystem in Java?

Master Thesis, the University of Copenhagen
Year: 2017

In Baluran National Park, Java, Indonesia, macaques monkeys are being provisioned by the park’s tourists. The ecological consequences of this are poorly known. Some of the few studies that exist indicate that feeding, etc. can have negative consequences for animals – but also for tourists, local communities and ecosystems.

The QATO Foundation has given support to a master thesis that investigates the consequences of feeding, etc. the macaques monkeys in the Baluran park. The master thesis is conducted by a student from the University of Copenhagen.
